Kylie Minogue. "Slow." Body Languge, Parlophone Records Ltd, 2003.
Slow things down this Sunday.
Slow things down this Sunday.
This flip is just what we needed today.
In these times, now more than ever, we must remember to be kind to each other, and to ourselves.
🎶 Find the Cost of Freedom, Buried in the Ground
Mother Earth Will Swallow You
Lay Your Body Down 🎶
Things are going to get easier.
Today's track is inspired by Eric Shea, featured in this week's editions of #views. Read on to learn about the role music plays in his life and check out his playlist, "Fender Nocaster."
Still coming down from the high of the Osheaga Music and Arts Festival last weekend in Montréal, where I had the immense pleasure of sitting next to Toronto R&B up-and-comers Daniel Caesar and Tommy Beesley (aka River Tiber) while the supremely talented Alabama Shakes rocked the crowd. Lead vocalist and guitarist Brittany Howard is truly a force of nature and witnessing her belt her heart out to a crowd of tens of thousands of festival-goers during sunset was an experience I'll not soon forget.
After learning of the horrifying events in Charlottesville this past weekend, and returning to the US from a short visit back to Canada, I've been feeling a renewed sense of hope in the power of cultural institutions, the arts, and especially music, to share messages of tolerance, foster understanding, and build community. We need it now more than ever.
Things are feeling a little crazy lately.
Sharing two versions of Nelly Furtado's cover of this Gnarls Barkley track to calm things down a little.
It's been nearly a decade but this flip of The Four Seasons' "Beggin'" by Norweigian hip-hop duo Madcon is still a banger.
Back home in T.O. and can't help but blast this banger.
🎶 Yo
We don't say 'you know what I'm sayin'
T dot says 'yuh dun know'
We don't say 'hey that's the breaks'
We say 'yo, a so it go'
We don't say 'you get one chance'
We say 'you better rip the show'
Before bottles start flyin and you runnin for the door
You talking about 'cuttin and hittin skins'
We talkin bout 'beat dat face'
T dot niggas will eat your food before y'all cats say grace
Y'all cats is steady saying 'word'
My niggas is steady yellin 'seen'
Half the time we talking about 'more times'
You don't even know what 'more times' means!
'More times we rocker fresher'
'More times we come correct'
More times y'all think it's the hot shit
Y'all haven't heard nuttin yet
Differently, still yuh know
The circle gettin ill yuh know
Step on the wrong Bally boot and you might get kill ya know
So everytime you walk through a dance tell a yute 'xcuse me'
Tellin your jubie 'I like her style'
She's talkin about 'abuse me'
Use me show me how the T dot rolls
My style is off the thermostat plus I'm comin from the cold-yo 🎶
Happy Friday, y'all! Thanks to Teddy for putting me onto this jam.
Long dinners back home with family and friends call for some Sweet Baby James.
Like I said, I can't get enough of their sound. Love the choreography in this music video.
Discovered Honne at Osheaga this past weekend and I can't get enough of their sound.
Thanks to my sister, Kelly, for dragging me from all the way on the other side of Parc Jean-Drapeau across the festival grounds to catch these guys live. This track is poppy, sure, but it's sweet and upbeat and I can't help but smile when I hear that chorus.
🎶 Don't touch me
Boy I want you
Not allowed to
You have someone that loves you
I'm waiting
And I'm patient
I'm deluded
You have someone that loves you 🎶
These brothers just keep the jams coming. This one is some hot fire.
