Tell me who I have to be to gain some reciprocity

Ms. Lauryn Hill. "Ex-Factor." The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill, Ruffhouse Records LP, 1998.

Can't think of many things better than driving around town with my sister, blasting L Boogie out the stereo, and singing at the top of our lungs.

Every time I listen to The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill with someone, I say the same thing, "I think she made a perfect album." This song is one of its finest.

Well, my friends, the time has come

Lionel Richie. "All Night Long." Can't Slow Down, Motown Records, a Division of UMG Recordings, Inc., 1983.

So we thought this one would be a karaoke classic, but it fell flat the other night at our local Backstage Lounge. Maybe it wasn't the right track to follow up Ginuwine's "Pony." Nevertheless, this jam remains a banger in my mind. Always.

Stuck between my shadow and me

Jamie Lidell. "Multiply." Multiply, Warp Records, 2005.

Another gloomy morning here in LA and this song came on the radio on my way to work to brighten the day.

(Shoutout to the guys over at KCRW's Morning Becomes Eclectic -- you can check out Lidell's performance on their radio show from back in the day below).

I had a chance to see Lidell perform live at the Cabaret Juste pour rire when I lived in Montréal back in 2010 (also found a video from that show, check it out below). So much energy and talent. And fun.

Okay, one last video (I promise) of "Multiply" featuring Feist, Mocky, and legendary music professor Chilly Gonzales, teaching music theory to his students and friends in "Master Class."
